Last year alone, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reported over 375 recalls, reflecting a significant escalation in enforcement efforts. Penal actions included a notable $16 million settlement against an air conditioner importer, along with the imprisonment of executives for distributing hazardous dehumidifiers. These penalties emphasize the need for companies to reassess their compliance frameworks to prevent costly repercussions.

AI technology is increasingly integral in inspecting imports, specifically targeting low-value shipments—a sector where Chinese imports, while comprising only 33% of total imports, accounted for over 75% of violation cases.
